The first official look at Martin Scorsese's long-awaited Silence debuted online Tuesday night. The religious drama, starring Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver and Liam Neeson, opens Dec. 23.

Paramount Pictures attached the teaser to Robert Zemeckis' Allied, which opens this Thursday in Australia.

Based on a novel by Japanese author Shusaku Endo, Silence tells the story of two Portuguese Jesuit priests, played by Driver and Garfield, who must contend with various forms of persecution, including torture, while traveling through Japan to proselytise locals and track down their mentor, played by Neeson.
