What's it about?
Follows the life of Belgian nun Jeanine Deckers (1933-1985) who rose to fame as The Singing Nun aka Sister Smile after scoring a chart-topping hit song entitled 'Dominique' in 1963. Her life came spiralling down after the hit and although she tried to pursue an alternative career, her financial woes lead her and her partner to commit suicide in the early 80s.

What's it about?
Based on a real event in the late 50s in South Australia: when a 9-year-old girl is found raped and murdered in a cave at Ceduna beach not far from Adelaide, police arrest Aboriginal Max Stuart (David Ngoombujarra), who signs a confession under duress, after claiming to be innocent of the crime. Local Irish migrant lawyer David O’Sullivan (Robert Carlyle) and partner Helen Devaney (Kerry Fox) are assigned to the hopeless case as legal aid defence lawyers. Prosecutor Roderic Chamberlain (Charles Dance) believes the police version of the story, but O’Sullivan drags the case all the way to the Privy Council in England. The extended crusade by a young Rupert Murdoch (Ben Mendelsohn) at The News finally embarrasses the into action, but justice still remains skewed against Stuart.

Scottsboro: An American Tragedy

What's it about?
A look at the infamous "Scottsboro Boys" case that occurred in Alabama in 1931, in which nine young black men were arrested, tried and quickly convicted in the rape of two white women, despite overwhelming evidence that showed their accusers had falsely accused them and the fact that one of the women later admitted that no rape had in fact occurred (although both had had sexual relations with their boyfriends on the day prior to the "rape"). The case was one of the first that shined a spotlight on what many called the "legal lynchings" that occurred in the South whenever blacks were accused of crimes, especially against whites and most especially against white women.
