The great Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece is our Christmas present to you, and we're playing the English language version so that even the littlest littlies can follow the story.  Teenage Sophie's life upended when when she is literally swept off her feet by a mysterious wizard named Howl. Their bond enrages a spiteful witch, who casts a spell to turn Sophie into a 90-year old woman. Sophie embarks on an incredible odyssey to lift the curse, and finds refuge in Howl's magical moving castle where she becomes acquainted with Markl, Howl's apprentice, and a hot-headed fire demon named Calcifer.

What's it about?
In this '80s all-star camp classic, a bored alien king - Ming the Merciless - keeps the blues at bay by conjuring up a series of disasters on Earth. Retrotastic special effects and a soundtrack by Queen make this required viewing for any self-respecting B-movie buff.

Rounding out this mega-marathon is this true classic, now celebrating its 40th year. Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning for Best Cinematography. Power repairman Roy Neary witnesses with a strange spacecraft while out on a call. Recurring visions of a mountain fuel an increasing obsession that drives him to an emotional breaking point. Desperate to understand what he has experienced, he finds an ally in Jillian (Melinda Dillon), a single mother who believes her young son has been abducted by the aliens. As they grapple with the fallout of their own experiences, an international group of scientists led by French expert Claude Lacombe (Francois Truffaut) search for a breakthrough in human-alien communication. Their collective quest culminates in a remote Wyoming rendezvous and an event of unequalled importance in all of human history.
