Some missions are not a choice: but you'll want to choose to watch this trailer.

Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt and crew return for another mission which appears to be battling villain Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) once again, after his spectacular escape.

Angela Bassett in CIA bad-ass mode swoops in to take over direction from Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin) and she sends Henry Cavill and his beautiful, lush moustachio in to ensure Ethan doesn't go rogue.

If he does, Cavill's August Walker is authorised to hunt him down and kill him.

Ethan says he doesn't know who he can trust outside Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), Benji (Simon Pegg) and Luther (Ving Rames) although it looks like he can't even trust them.

Some things do seem impossible: like listing all the fab, swashbuckling stunts - and the stunning, scenic shots - - just in this trailer, although it does include the office window jump Cruise famously broke his foot doing and which shut down production for a time.

The film hits Australian cinemas 2 August 2018. And. We. Can't. Wait.
