From Oscar® winners including The King's Speech, Zero Dark Thirty and Son of Saul to movies for music lovers and tales inspired by real lives, a spectacular summer of film will be screening on SBS World Movies.

SBS World Movies is rolling out the red carpet with a star-studded line-up of homegrown and international talent across summer featuring Oscar® winners Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Firth, Eddie Redmayne, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine and Lupita Nyong'o along with Academy Award® nominees Scarlett Johansson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Timothée Chalamet, Toni Collette, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Bill Murray, Clive Owen, Jessica Chastain and Michael Fassbender, among many others.

From much-loved favourites to newer films, there's a lot to look forward to: 

Explore the Summer of Discovery 8.30pm Saturdays and Sundays from December 5, and a series of weekly collections screening weeknights at 9.30pm from December 14.

Saturday December 5 – Vox Lux

Celeste (Natalie Portman) finds herself on the comeback trail when a scandal, personal struggles and the pitfalls of fame threaten her career.

Sunday December 6 – Apocalypto

As the Mayan kingdom faces its decline, a young man is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression in this epic film nominated for three Academy Awards.

Saturday December 12 – The Kindergarten Teacher

A kindergarten teacher (Maggie Gyllenhaal) becomes obsessed with one of her students, who she believes is a child prodigy.

Sunday December 13 – Incendies

The story of twins who journey to the Middle East to discover their family history and fulfil their mother's last wishes.

Saturday December 19 – Little Miss Sunshine

When seven-year-old Olive voices her desire to win the coveted Little Miss Sunshine crown at an upcoming beauty pageant, her wildly dysfunctional family sets out on an interstate road trip. Stars Toni Collette and Abigail Breslin.

Sunday December 20 – Wild Tales

Made up of six stories, Wild Tales is an entertaining and jaw-dropping Argentinian film about people crossing the line into madness when faced with perceived injustice.

Saturday December 26 – Lost in Translation

Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson star in this flat-out hilarious film about two Americans who develop a surprising friendship while venturing through Tokyo.

Sunday December 27 – Lust, Caution

In this espionage thriller set in WWII-era Shanghai, a young woman gets swept up in a dangerous game of emotional intrigue with a powerful political figure. Directed by Ang Lee.

This collection honours the great cinematographers, directors and creatives with an eye for all things magically visual. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Last Emperor, Master and Commander: Far Side of the World, Children of Men and No Country for Old Men.

SOUNDTRACKS Monday December 21 to Friday December 25

OSCAR WINNERS Monday December 28 to Friday January 22
