Russell Edwards is a Sydney-based film critic with a long-standing passion for Asian cinema. A founding member of the Australian-based Asia Pacific Screen Awards’ Nominations Council, he was President of The Film Critics Circle of Australia from 2004 to 2006 and has appeared on festival critics juries from Cannes to Pyongyang.

In 2012, Russell graduated from UTS with a Masters degree in Creative Arts (Research) with a focus on romantic comedy (or more precisely its absence) in Australian film. He has lectured on Japanese and Korean cinema as well as the work of Stanley Kubrick and Woody Allen.
