The feisty Maria (Amanda Pilke) and the sensible Raakel (Marjut Maristo) are conservative Laestadians, a Lutheran revival movement that takes the Bible literally, with summer prayer meetings attracting over 110,000 worshippers. Before she settles down into married life, the curious Maria wants to experience everything that her church forbids: alcohol, rhythmic music, pre-marital sex and television. Ready to sample the temptations of the big city, Maria sets off to Helsinki, knowing that when she returns to the fold, all will be forgiven.
