A psychologist takes on the case of the catatonic but un-diagnosable young woman named Elizabeth, who also happens to possess secret information a fresh-out-of-gaol crim will go to great lengths to retrieve. When this criminal kidnaps the psychologists eight-year-old daughter, his ethics are compromised.

Despite some nonsensical elements of the screenplay director Gary Fleder brings a certain style to this thriller.

Psychiatrist, Dr. Nathan Conrad, Michael Douglas, is diverted from his journey home on the eve of Thanksgiving by a call from a former colleague Dr. Sachs, Oliver Platt, who needs his help with a psychotic patient Elizabeth Burrows, Brittany Murphy, who`s in a psychiatric prison after viciously attacking one of her carers. Elizabeth is totally uncommunicative. But when Conrad`s daughter Jessie, Skye McCole Bartusiak, is kidnapped, Elizabeth holds the key to her survival. Koster, Sean Bean, who`s recently out of gaol, was involved in a successful robbery ten years ago but was cheated out of his ten million dollar spoils by one of his own gang. Conrad has ten hour to wrest the secret of where the loot is, from Elizabeth. Despite some nonsensical elements of the screenplay director Gary Fleder brings a certain style to this thriller. His cast give strong performances, particularly Brittany Murphy, the relationship between her and Conrad is the core of the film. Famke Janssen plays Conrad`s wife who`s amazingly resourceful despite being laid up in bed with a broken leg. Jennifer Esposito plays a cop who tandems Conrad`s search. Mark Isham`s music is effective, Michael Douglas is reassuring. It`s nothing we haven\'t seen before but I still quite enjoyed it.
