Ahead of live shows at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, Elvis Presley practises first in the studio and then with his back-up singers. The ensuing six performances are played to sell-out audiences.
Elvis That`s the Way It Is is being rereleased after being completely revamped, losing some material from the original and adding four more songs. The music master tracks have been remixed and there he is in all his glory, seven years before his death, looking trim taut and bloody terrific. Made before the acceptance of light unobtrusive video equipment it`s noticeable how much of a performance Elvis gives before the camera even when he`s offstage, he`s very aware at all times of being filmed and so any insights into Elvis the man are rather rare. However he was a grand performer and that shines through like a beacon....Score from guest Reviewer, David Caesar, 3 stars.
