80th anniversary of Kristallnacht commemorated in Canberra


It's the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, or 'the night of broken glass" - an event seen by historians as the beginning of the Holocaust. From November 9 to November 10 in 1938, Nazi para-military forces and civilians terrorised the Jewish population in Germany and Austria. Synagogues, schools and businesses were vandalised and thirty thousand Jews were arrested or sent to concentration camps.
