AP Eagers tries to ease merger concerns

AP Eagers has offered to offload some NSW dealerships to ease the ACCC's concerns about its proposed acquisition of rival car dealer Automotive Holdings.

AP Eagers has offered to offload its dealerships in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley in a $54 million deal to ease the competition watchdog's concerns about its proposed acquisition of rival car dealer Automotive Holdings.

AP Eagers says it would would sell Klosters, which sells nine vehicle makes under the Kloster Motor Group, Cardiff Motor Group and Highway Group banners, to Tony White Group by November.

The move is a response to the Australian Competition and Consumer Watchdog's announcement last month that it had preliminary concerns about a merger that would leave one company in control of 46 per cent of new car dealerships in the region.
