Louis Tomlinson blasts critical parents

Louis Tomlinson has addressed the controversy over the "explicit" lyrics in One Direction's single Live While We're Young.

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson has posted a cheeky tweet directed at some parents who took issue with the band's "explicit" lyrics.

UK newspaper The Mirror reports a mother and father recently pulled their two teenagers out of a choir performance after discovering they were going to sing Live While We're Young.

The parents were apparently upset by a line in the song: "'Tonight let's get some, and live while we're young."

They reportedly sent a "strongly worded" letter to Chelsea School District, in the US state of Michigan, saying the song "violated the district's policy for sexual innuendos".

Tomlinson took to Twitter on Sunday to address the controversy.

"Dear Mr and Mrs Stone, I'm deeply saddened by your complaint to Chelsea High School regarding our lyrics..." he wrote.

"I hope the two of you 'get some' very soon :) #cryingparents."

Within hours, Tomlinson's cheeky post had been retweeted 50,000 times, according to the Mirror.

There have been no reports about the parents' response.

One Direction has been enjoying time off since Christmas, ahead of their Where We Are tour.

Tomlinson, 22, has played for the reserve squad of his hometown football team, Doncaster Rovers.

He recently took part in a charity match against Rotherham United.
