A man has died after the boat he was in flipped in rough water off NSW's Mid North Coast.

Emergency services responded at about 8.30am (AEST) on Saturday to reports of a capsized boat and three people in the water at North Haven.

Police were told the four-metre fishing boat flipped in rough water at the mouth of the Camden Haven Inlet, throwing two men and a girl overboard.

One man and the girl made it to shore but a man aged in his 60s died before he could be rescued.

All three were wearing lifejackets.
