A Queensland regulation covering thousands of clothing and textile industry outworkers has been abolished by the Liberal-National government, which says it just creates red tape for business.
The code of practice covering mainly migrant workers was introduced by the then Labor government in 2010 based on similar codes in New South Wales and South Australia.
Parliament this week rejected an opposition motion to reinstate the regulation, which was repealed by the government in November.

National secretary of the Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia Michele O'Neil told Stefan Armbruster it will leave outworkers exposed to exploitation.
