St Helens' former Cronulla and Gold Coast prop Luke Douglas will spend at least the first month of the new English Super League season on loan at second-tier Championship club Leigh.
The 32-year-old Australian has made more than 300 appearances at the top level of the game in both the NRL and Super League and captained Scotland in their final match of the 2017 World Cup.
Yamba, NSW--born Douglas missed only two of Saints' 34 league and cup matches in 2018 but makes way for new signing Joseph Paulo and the return from injury of Alex Walmsley.
Leigh coach John Duffy, who was part of Scotland's backroom staff at the last World Cup, said: "I have known Luke for a number of years and he is the most professional player I have ever come into contact with during my time in rugby league.
"He's a smart fit into our side at a crucial stage of the season and will add so many qualities as well as a steadying influence. He's got lots of great experience and is a cool head in any situation."
