The public to name new Sydney ferry fleet

A new ferry fleet will be named by the people as the six new vessels prepare to take to Sydney Harbour this summer.

The public are being called on to decide what Sydney's new ferry fleet should be called with suggestions ranging from cardiac surgeon Victor Chang and ferryman Billy Blue to shark expert Valerie Taylor and Aboriginal clan Gadigal.

Public voting is now open and runs through until September 19 to pick the winning six names out of the 36 on offer.

NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance says the names are grouped into three categories: Arts and Culture; Connections to Sydney Harbour; and Science, Environment and Innovation.

To vote go to www.nameyourferry.com.au.
