Australia should take more Syrian refugees: Amnesty

Amnesty International is calling on Australia to vastly increase its intake of Syrian refugees.

Last October, the federal government committed to providing 500 resettlement places for Syrian refugees, as part of Australia's existing humanitarian intake quota.

As Syrian peace talks get underway later today (wed) in Switzerland, Amnesty International is calling on Australia to vastly increase that number.

Amnesty Australia's refugee spokesman Graeme McGregor told Santilla Chingaipe Australia needs to do more to recognise the plight of more than two-million Syrian refugees.
