Questions hang over India's ability to host the 2010 Commonwealth Games because of spiraling security costs and construction worries.
The work still needed on the main stadium for next year's Commonwealth Games is a stark reminder of how much must be done in Delhi during the next 12 months.
The Commonwealth Games Federation remains concerned about whether the city can deliver the games.
Federation C-E-O, Mike Fennell wrote in a recent report that "the current situation poses a serious risk to the Commonwealth Games in 2010."
The Delhi 2010 Organising Committee has rejected Mr Fennell's concerns.
“We are placing before the country our position on these issues and reassure our people that the Games will be ready," said the Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi.
But concerns about the spiralling costs of hosting the Games, especially escalating security costs, could threaten the future of the sporting event.
