Giovana Vitola

Giovana's journalism career has taken her around the world, with the emphasis for Dateline on stories from her native South America.

Giovana Vitola started her journalism career in her native Brazil, graduating at the age of 22, but quickly moved on in pursuit of international challenges. The starting point was New Delhi, where she freelanced for the BBC's Portuguese service and Globonews, a 24 hour Brazilian news channel.

After time in Germany with Deutsche Welle and a year in Beijing working for China Radio International, Giovana moved to Sydney at the end of 2006 and joined SBS's Portuguese Radio Service, before reporting for Dateline from South America and beyond.


Giovana can speak Portuguese, Spanish, English, and is constantly studying Mandarin.
