Yaara Bou Melhem is a video journalist, who has worked in the remotest corners of Australia and around the world.
She's won two UN Media Peace Awards and a Walkley Award for her reporting surrounding the uprising in North Africa and the Middle East.
Freedom's Call from Syria and Bahrain's Dark Secret took both prizes in 2011, while a series of reports called Revolutions: Rise and Fall won the UN Award in 2012.
Saving Syria, Inside Syria's War and Lawless Libya looked at the turbulent politics in Syria and Libya, gaining access to key people and places unseen by other Western journalists during the unrest.
Yaara was also named a Young Australian Television Journalist of the Year by the Walkley Foundation in 2009 and 2011 for her Dateline reports. Jordan - Jailing the Innocent was about the imprisonment of women under the guise of keeping them safe and Freedom's Call looked at the Syrian people's democracy movement.
After working across News and Current Affairs at SBS in TV, Radio and Online, Yaara relocated to Beirut, from where she reports for Australian and international networks, including SBS and Dateline.
Yaara holds a double degree in Journalism and Law.
