Indonesia's President has tweeted that the government is waiting for an official statement from the Abbott government following moves to halt co-operation on people smuggling and military training.

Translated, the tweets read:

The President has conveyed three important points to Australia in a press conference this afternoon.

Three steps will be taken while waiting for an official statement from the Australian Government.

1. Indonesia is waiting for an explanation from Australia on the wire tapping case.

2. A number of cooperation agenda will be re-examined: the exchange of information, intelligence and training with Australia, and the issue of human trafficking

3. We need a protocol, code of ethics and guiding principle so we can continue to work together as two nations.
