A Facebook page set up in January to fight the plan from the Australian Islamic Mission has attracted more than seven-thousand "likes".

And the Bendigo Council has received more than 200 objections to the mosque, which would offer two prayer halls, a minaret, and a sports facility.

But the Council's Director of Planning and Development, Prue Mansfield, told Dragana Mrkaja councillors have been given a recommendation to approve it.
