Labor to give $12m to ovarian cancer fight

The federal opposition has announced it will boost support for ovarian cancer research if it wins the next election.

Federal Labor has pledged $12 million towards ovarian cancer research if it wins the next election.

Ovarian cancer is one of the top 10 killers of Australian women and an estimated 4000 will die of the disease in the next five years.

The opposition says the money would go towards creating a national registry to help researchers study a database of clinical information along with three clinical trials and a bio-specimen tissue bank.
