A UK newspaper has reported the arrest of Australian entertainer Rolf Harris on suspicion of sex offences.
Harris was under investigation by senior detectives for several months, and was arrested on March 28 of this year over historic sex abuse allegations.
The arrest was conducted by officers from the 'Yewtree' inquiry set up to investigate the Jimmy Saville sex scandal, however it's understood the allegations made against Harris are not connected to that case.
“An 82-year-old man from Berkshire was arrested by officers on Operation Yewtree on suspicion of sexual offences,” said Scotland Yard.
“He has been bailed to a date in May pending further enquiries. The individual falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed 'others'.”
The Sun reports Harris vehemently denies any wrongdoing. His lawyers and agents have not commented publicly.
