Search continues for missing NSW fisherman

The search for a fisherman who was swept off rocks and sucked into a notoriously dangerous sea cave on the NSW Central Coast is expected to resume.

Emergency services are expected to spend a third day searching for a fisherman who fell from rocks and was sucked into a notoriously dangerous sea cave on the NSW Central Coast.

The 60-year-old man was fishing with two other people when he fell into the water at Timber Beach, south of Caves Beach, about 10.30am on Sunday.

A multi-agency search - involving water police, divers, PolAir, marine rescue, surf life savers, and the Westpac rescue helicopter - was immediately launched but failed to find him before sundown.

It's believed he was wearing a life jacket, NSW Police said in a statement.

The search is expected to resume about 7am on Tuesday after it was suspended on Monday evening.
