Indigenous baking business Dreamtime Tuka is the first 100% Indigenous company to be served in Qantas Lounges across Australia.

The deal is an expansion for the Dubbo based company, which for each month over the past year has supplied 150,000 mouth-watering Lemon Myrtle and Coconut slices to the carrier for its domestic flights.

The agreement caps off a successful year for Dreamtime Tuka, which also saw it secure a deal with NSW Trains. The business will now supply buffet cars across the state with their Lemon Myrtle Coconut slice and a Chocolate Chip & Roasted Wattleseed biscuit.

Small Business Secrets first met with Dreamtime Tuka founder, Herb Smith last year.

The Wiradjuri man and retired police officer is passionate about expanding his business further, as a way to continue to support Indigenous youth employment.

“I’m hoping that Dreamtime Tuka is a motivational tool for people in Dubbo,” he explains.

I hope that young people in this city can look at me and say, “Wow there’s Uncle Herb, and he was a successful police officer and he ran Government programs and then he’s left all that and started his own business.”
