Storm's Brandon Smith in NRL waiting game

Brandon Smith will start as New Zealand Maori hooker in the All-Stars game on Friday but says he's happy to continue in his NRL bench role for Melbourne.

He may first-choice hooker in the New Zealand Maori side for Friday's All-Stars match in Melbourne but Brandon Smith says he's content to play second fiddle for the Storm this NRL season.

Smith is playing the waiting game behind Cameron Smith, which now extends until the end of 2020 with the Melbourne skipper last month signing a two-year contract extension.

Despite also been the New Zealand Test rake the 22-year-old Smith will again play a bench role for the Storm - although he's hopeful of playing more minutes.
