Sydney's Catholic community has given thousands of new burial spaces to members of the Muslim faith in Sydney.
Kemps Creek Catholic Cemetery is offering five acres of land to help address a burial-plot shortage.
Existing burial space across Sydney is expected to be depleted within 30 years if immediate action isn't taken to free up more land.
The new Muslim section will cost about $4 million to build.
Muslim community leader Kazi Ali said it is a gracious decision.
"It was a nightmare for us. Now our next few generations will not need to worry about new land being released. The land will last us a long time. It is good news for us."
