Plebiscite will take place on February 11, if it actually happens

Today the Cabinet signed off of the legislation for a plebiscite for same-sex marriage. So will it pass through parliament?

This morning George Brandis announced that the date, funding details, and question for the marriage equality plebiscite.

It is slated for February 11, both the Yes and No campaigns will receive $7.5 million in public funding, and the question is:

Should the law be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry?

That is, that's what will happen if the legislation makes it through parliament, which isn't a done deal by any stretch.

So why do some advocates of marriage equality oppose? GetUp!'s Sally Rugg joins Marc and Jan to explain why her organisation is calling for all MPs to block the legislation.
