Thousands of dancers make way into history books

More than two thousand Sydney dancers have grooved their way into the history books as part of the world's biggest dance event.

It's the first time Australia’s joined in with the Big Dance, which also featured four thousand dancers in London and Glasgow.

The five-minute routine for the event, 'Beats for Peace',  was created by Sydney Dance Company artistic director Rafael Bonachela.

Rafael's used to directing the nation's finest dancers - so this project was very different.

He tested it out on his team of office workers, to help him adapt to non-professionals, teaching through community classes and online tutorials.

London Mayor Boris Johnson helped start Big Dance eight years ago in the UK; since then more than two million people have taken part.
