Uniting Church backs Vic abuse report

The Uniting Church says a Victorian parliamentary report into institutional responses to child abuse will help victims achieve justice and healing.

A Victorian parliamentary report into institutional child abuse should allow reconciliation and justice for victims, the Uniting Church says.

Moderator of the Victoria and Tasmania Synod Dan Wootton said the report, which recommends making the concealing of child abuse a criminal offence, was a positive development for victims.

"We hope the parliamentary inquiry will provide an opportunity for healing, justice and reconciliation for all those who have suffered," he told AAP.
