The Victorian Greens will introduce a motion to block the controversial building of an Apple store in Melbourne.

The controversial plan to knock down part of Melbourne's Federation Square to build an Apple store will be opposed by the Greens in state parliament.

Greens MP Ellen Sandell plans to introduce a disallowance motion on Wednesday, ahead of an expected vote next week.

"The Greens will today join with the community and Melbourne City Council in calling for the Labor Government to find an alternative location for an Apple store in the CBD, and we will move to revoke Labor's poor decision," Ms Sandell said.
