Women rally in Slut Walk

Thousands of women took the the streets of Brisbane and Melbourne to protest against sexual harassment in what is Australia's first Slut Walk.

Thousands of women in fishnets and stilettos took to the streets of Brisbane and Melbourne today to protest against sexual harassment in what's described as Australia's first Slut Walk.

YOUR SAY: Are 'slutty' women being unfairly blamed for sexual harassment?

The global movement began in Canada after a Toronto policeman said women shouldn't dress slutty to avoid being victimised.

The Australian Sex Party Queensland branch organised the Brisbane protest and used Facebook to attract participants.

Organisers say the protest movement aims to empower women to stand up for their sexuality and end a culture of blaming sexual assault victims.

Slut Walks are planned for Sydney and Adelaide in June.
