Spencer and Roz played more than 300 games of Words With Friends together before finally meeting thanks to a kind pastor.
A young rapper has finally met his online gaming partner; an elderly woman who he had played more than 300 games with.
Spencer and Roz live more than 13 hours apart, he is from the US state of Maryland and she lives in a retirement village in Florida. They are also years apart in age, Spencer is in his 20s and Roz is in her 80s.
But the pair have formed an unlikely friendship through their Words With Friends battles.
After connecting through the online game, Spencer said he and Roz had played more than 300 matches together.
“So last summer I randomly met this 80yo woman on Words With Friends. We played 300+ games together and she actually ended up becoming a good friend of mine. Today I got to go to Florida and meet her in person,” he tweeted on Saturday. The tweet has since received more than one million likes.
The meeting was made possible by Amy Butler, a pastor of Riverside Church in New York’s Morningside Heights whose daughter is friends with Spencer. Ms Butler arranged for the pair to meet face-to-face in West Palm Beach. She also shared photos of the gamers bonding for the first time.
Spencer said he had never been to Florida and thanked Ms Butler for making the meeting a possibility. He was also quick to assure the public he was the clear winner among the duo, with 210 wins compared to Roz’s 114.
Words With Friends is a multi-player Scrabble-like mobile phone game which was launched in 2009.
