Defence Indigenous Deployment Program graduates set sail on Sydney waters today to greet the Royal Australian Naval fleet as it entered the harbour.

When the first Australian fleet arrived 100 years ago in 1913, it would have been a much different setting.

Mentor Jerry Savage, who has been in the navy for 30 years, said it was important to remember the history of our nation.

Defence Indigenous Deployment Program graduates Francine Hails and Josphine Johnson said they felt proud to be part of the crew and felt honoured to be involved in the centenary celebration.

Mabo brothers and grandsons of Eddie Mabo, Kaleb and William, were also incredibly proud.
