The Sydney team have taken out the title for the second year in a row, against their Hunter region opponents the Newcastle All Blacks.

Redfern defeated the Newcastle side 42 to 12, bearing experience from some of the country's top rugby league players. Former Rabbitohs star Nathan Merritt and his cousin Travis Robinson former Panthers player, and Warriors winger Jono Wright were just some of the unstoppable talent on Leichhardt oval on Monday 3 October.

Last year saw both teams head-to-head in the Knockout grand final and history has repeated itself, with Redfern with a victory win.

The Newcastle All Blacks team has made the grand final the last three years but has failed to take home the trophy.

This is the twelfth Knockout win for Redfern, with the club following familiar patterns - always winning two years back-to-back in a row.

Redfern All Blacks women's side also won its grand final, defeating the Western Sydney  Red Belly Blacks 24 - 4.

With the traditional of the winning team hosting the following years' Knockout tournament, 2017 will again, be on the Redfern All Black's home soil.
