Prime Minister Scott Morrison looks likely to win 77 seats, allowing him to appoint a Speaker and govern in majority.

The Labor Party had made a campaign promise to establish an official "Voice" to parliament representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples.

The Coalition government rejected the proposal in 2017 but recently allocated $7.3 million for a "co-design of options" for a Voice to Parliament - though it's unclear exactly what that involves.
