The backbone to Ethiopian food is its spices. That’s what Abdul and wife Rozenn add to their dishes. But their success at Footscray restaurant, Konjo, is due also to the dollop of genuine affection and love they have for their community. Theirs is a family run business in more ways than one. Abdul’s mother in Ethiopia prepares the spices that he includes in his dishes. He cooks while singing songs his brother taught him - stirring, frying and sharing his culture with others who have now also become his family.
