Why are they wasting their time playing in the World Cup when they could be living the idol life? :P

10. Gotoku Sakai 23y.o – Japanese Defender

Born in NYC to a Japanese father and German mother, Sakai also has the makings of a shoujo anime lead character!

9  Ji Dong Won 23y.o – Korean Forward

Best remembered for his exceptional performance at the 2012 Olympic Games. Look at those cheekbones!

8. Lee Chung Yong 25y.o – Korean Midfielder

Nicknamed the ‘Blue Dragon’ ‘cause that’s what his name translates to. Only pop stars can make sitting on a chair look this good.

7. Son Heung Min 21y.o – Korean Forward

This guy has a babyface and a hundred megawatt smile: totes boyband material.

6. Yoichiro Kakitani 24y.o – Japanese Forward

He doesn’t have as much 'celebrity status' a some other players but like a lot of Asian pop stars he’s known for being a football prodigy from a young age. Kakitani also has this sexy smirky smile…and doesn’t he look a little bit like K-pop star Kim Hyun Joong anyway?

5. Koo Ja Cheol 25y.o – Korean Forward

Captain of the Korean national football team and their top scorer at the 2011 Asian Cup. He’s also known for his abs... which have no place in Asian pop *cough* OMGtheysodo *cough*.

4. Makoto Hasebe 30y.o – Japanese Midfielder

Captain of the Japanese national football team and scored against Brazil in a friendly 2011 match: apparently that’s really difficult. He’s also the poster boy for Japanese football…and it’s no wonder ‘cause he can even make sweat look good.

3. Ki Seung Yeung 25y.o – Korean Midfielder

Known for his good looks and his football skill, of course. Oh, and he’s married to actress Han Hye-jin *sigh*.

2. Honda Keisuke 28y.o – Japanese Defender

Arguably the hottest Japanese footballer right now. The New York Times predicted that he might be the next David Beckham. The next DAVID BECKHAM!

1.  Atsuto Uchida 26y.o – Japanese Defender

In 2008 this cutie with idol hair scored a winning goal against Bahrain and became the youngest Japanese goal scorer in the FIFA World Cup qualification at 20 years and 87 days old. The previous record lasted 11 years and was held by Japanese player Hidetoshi Nakata. Uchida will voice a character in the latest Pokemon Movie: XY: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction. He’s practically an Asian Pop star already.

Did we leave any out...?

For all the lastest on the FIFA World Cup 2014, head to SBS The World Game.
