New Idol group The Margarines are in debt!

The Margarines have yet to release their first single, but they’re already making headlines with their reasons for taking on the Idol life - debt.

Yep, every member of The Margarines has gotten herself into debt for reasons ranging from student loans to just being a little too carefree with their savings (I hear you! Most of MY money goes on anime and chocolate). The highest debt is held by Mami Nishida who is said to owe about 100 million yen after her family's factory went out of business.

All together, the group is estimated to be 127 million Yen out of pocket!

While they will be considered ‘Idols’, the members are allowed to date which is a major depature from the usual rules for Japanese Idols in particular. In fact, the only rule that they seem to have is that they move 10 thousand units!

Their first single “Goodbye Debt Heaven” will be released December 17, with their first live performance on the 23rd of December
