It’s been another great year in Asian Pop and with so many good songs, we can’t always fit them all into our shows and sadly sometimes they get left behind.

Here is my small list of Awesome Songs You Might Have Missed In 2014.

Tofubeats – 20140803

I first came across Japanese producer Tofubeats this year and was instantly hooked by the groove of this hip-hop/funk/disco track. It has a great summery chill vibe.

Goose house – Hikaru Nara

A regular listener to J-Pop Nation introduced me to the awesomeness of the band Goose house. Usually known for their J-Pop covers, Goose house wrote ‘Hikaru Nara’ for the opening theme of the anime Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. They seem to have so much fun when they perform – I want to be in their band.

Seo Tai Ji – Sogyeokdong

K-Pop legend Seo Tai Ji makes his long-awaited comeback in the only way he knows how; with groundbreaking and thought-provokingly unique compositions. It's intriguing and inviting: mysterious yet familiar.

San E – Body Language

2014 was a big year for Korean Hip-Hop especially following the success of the rap-reality show, "Show Me The Money". As one of the celebrity judges/producers, San E’s popularity reached new heights which saw him collaborate with After School member Raina for the chart-topping "A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness".

Ketsumeishi – Californy

I’ve really been digging the Japanese hip-hop/pop/reggae sound lately and this track has been one of my absolute favourites this year. A track with groove, excellent pop sensibilities and a great summer vibe.

Daybreak – Hot Fresh

Get up and dance! This track from indie Korean group Daybreak is just pure Electro Pop/Funk fun. A fun video to go with it as well.

DIA – Paradise

Despite the unfortunate disbandment of her group KISS&CRY earlier this year, vocalist DIA has not let that stop her from making great music. DIA’s incredible voice suits this carefully crafted song and is one of my surprise stand-outs of the year. Beautifully haunting.

Other special mentions:

B.I. – Be I

Beenzino – How Do I Look

JungIn & Gary – Your Scent

RAINSTONE – Rainstorm (Feat. Brian McKnight, San E & Verbal Jint)

ONE OK ROCK – Mighty Long Fall

Loco – You Don’t Know

What were some of your favourite, lesser-known songs from this year?
