Idol group AKB48 have sold over 1 million copies of their latest single “Green Flash”.

With those kinds of sales it’s not surprising that they topped the Oricon weekly single charts, but the achievements don't end there.

“Green Flash” is AKB48’s 26th chart-topping single in a row, following on from "Kibouteki Refrain", which means they now hold the record for most consecutive number 1 singles for a female artist. Ayumi Hamasaki held the record previously with 25 number 1’s in a row (which is still an amazing feat for a solo artist!).

They’ve also broken Morning Musume’s 5 year record, for consecutive years of a female group has topped the Oricon single's charts.

And even more impressive than that (as if it isn’t impressive enough), this is their 20th single in a row that has sold over a million copies.

Anyone else feel like an underachiever compared to all that?
