When the stars get together, it’s something like a dream (or a nightmare, depending on your fan status). Every picture seems like magic. Alas, all good things must come to an end. These are some unions that seemed so promising at the start. Let’s take a moment to remember the romances that captured our imaginations for a little while.
Im Yoona and Lee Seunggi
She belongs to an iconic girl group (Girls’ Generation), he is a singer and TV personality the public adores. They were the sweetest power couple and in between them, they had films, concerts and TV shows covered. In Aug. just two months before their 2nd anniversary, the two broke up citing busy schedules as the reason. Not surprising, but still sad. Nichkhun from 2PM and another Girls’ Generation member Tiffany also fared a similar fate a few months earlier.
Ayumi Hamasaki and Maro
Following her divorce in 2012, the J-pop star began dating dancer Maro, whom she met on the set of her music video. Soon, they were spotted in Paris and in a bold move, Ayumi went on to confirm the news to her fans. Despite the grand gesture, sadly the relationship was over in a year.
Lee Minho and Park Minyoung
It’s difficult to picture Lee Min-ho with someone other than Miss A’s Suzy, but there was a time when the dashing actor was dating a lesser-known star. Remember Park Min-young? The two actors met on the set of “City Hunter” in 2011. The fact that the young stars publicly acknowledged the relationship won them points with the fans. It’s a shame that their busy schedules got in the way.
Gu Hara and Yong Jun-hyung
When the two were snapped enjoying a midnight tryst, the two idol singers had no choice but to admit their relationship. They made headlines because they were members of boy and girl bands of equal stature. At first, fans were annoyed but soon enough they were won over by the cute couple. As is often the case, the curse of the busy schedule struck the pair and in 2013 they broke up after two years together.
William Chan and Angelababy
They were the original glamour couple. He was a singer-actor while she was a cover girl. They were together for 5 years before ending it in 2009. Still, there seem to be no ill will between the two as Chan sent his warm regard to Angelababy when she got married this year.
Girls' Generation's Tiffany and 2PM's Nichkhun
When it was official, not even the fans seemed all that surprised. Some claimed that there were subtle clues along the way. As both singers grew up abroad, many thought they were prospect of a 2PM-Girls' Generation wedding. -sigh-
Takaoka Sousuke and Aoi Miyazaki
They dated for 7 years before they tied the knot but their marriage only lasted four years. They were young and in love, but when it was over, things took a rocky turn. After the breakup, Takaoka took to Twitter to hint at what went wrong in his marriage.
