Just when it looked as if the flag controversy surrounding Twice’s Tzuyu would dwindle, it's been given more recognition as international media jumps on the topic.

The New York Times covered the topic on January 17, commenting that Tzuyu’s apology (to Chinese fans) -- for waving the Taiwanese flag in a video -- had a backlash of its own.

Of course, the incident all began a few months ago when Tzuyu was recorded holding up a Taiwanese flag (her place of birth), which many claimed was an insult to Chinese fans, a political statement even.

FYI, Tzuyu’s apology contained a clear opinion on where she stood on the matter.

“There is only one China,” Tzuyu said in the recorded apology.
