Along with some big annoucements about the future of SM Entertainment, the agency behind some of K-pop’s biggest acts announced the opening of a restaurant.
The “SMT Seoul” opened its doors in the upscale district of Seoul called Cheongdam-dong and offers both casual and formal dining. The opening party took place on January 27 and was attended by SM acts from Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, EXO & Red Velvet.
Earlier that day, SM’s head honcho Lee Sooman announced a slew of projects of the agency. The most notable being the upcoming debut of a boy band called NCT.
NCT is not just a band but a system of band management. The first team of the band will based in Seoul will debut this year, followed by Japan, and more teams will form around the world. Lee said that NCT will be an act on a global scale.
The second big announcement was that SM Entertainment would be releasing a single every week with its own digital streaming channel. As the first act to kick start the “Station” channel, Taeyeon released “Rain” on January 27.
