Song Joongki’s latest drama “Descendants of the Sun” is sweeping Asia clean. BBC has taken notice and written about it on March 27.
From a jealous husband who demanded that a photographer make him look like Song Joongki, to a woman who went blind from binge-watching, Chinese government officials have issued warning against the Song Joongki virus (not that anyone ever complains from catching the virus XD).
A recent warning from the Chinese authorities advised on “the right way to watch Korean dramas.”
Through Weibo, the government had this to say about loving the stars of the shows.
"When chasing male or female stars, do not become too infatuated with them. Because sometimes your casual words could end up hurting those who really care for you," it said.
Thailand is also falling for the show and the governor Yuthasak Supasorn has asked the Korea Tourism Organization to arrange a meeting with Song Joongki for Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.
The meeting is thought to be to boost tourism initiatives in Korea, but the Prime Minister is a huge fan who urged citizens of Thailand to watch the drama, too! Chan-ocha is especially taken with the themes of patriotism, sacrifice and obeying orders in it.
The Prime Minister also had this to say about Song Joongki.
"(Song Joong-ki) is very good looking with a boyish look. In real life a captain must shoulder a lot of burden and would look older."
Song is setting out for a fan meet in China and other parts of Asia from May, and on the itinerary is Bangkok!
Hopefully the Prime Minister can pop in for a quick meet!
