An Air China co-pilot has been suspended from duty after making it big online by live broadcasting videos from inside the cockpit while preparing for takeoff. The aviation novice had garnered a significant following on Weibo (a micro-blogging platform akin to Twitter) where he would appear pouting to the camera from behind an oversized pair of Aviators.

But while some admired him as a “handsome” man in uniform, a large section of his 64,000 strong following were outraged by his conduct. According to the Shanghai Daily one viewer said, "Why passengers are told to turn off their digital devices on flight while pilots ignore this rule?” while another remarked, “A pilot is cool when he is working hard, not when pretending to be cool”.

Air China issued a statement on their local social media explaining that the junior pilot's behaviour would not be tolerated. He is now expected to face an investigation.
