Mainland China has officially opened its very first Hello Kitty restaurant, located in a mall off Nanjing road in Shanghai's metropolis.
Called 'Bistro Bianco Hello Kitty', the extravagant two-storey restaurant sells both Hello Kitty inspired eats and drinks as well as an assortment of Hello Kitty merchandise.
The fact that China has only just opened a Hello Kitty restaurant may come as a surprise to many, as China is famously enamored by the cartoon kitten -- or girl (depending on who you ask)
The country is already home to a Hello Kitty theme park in Zhejiang, as well as a Hello Kitty dim sum joint in Hong Kong.
Similar Hello Kitty restaurants have been established across the globe, with one even in Sydney's Chatswood suburb. Nonetheless, this Shanghai restaurant marks China's first foray into the Hello Kitty restaurant franchise.
The gift and merchandise shop is also located on the first floor. It is filled with open lounge areas and large cardboard cutouts of Hello Kitty.
Upstairs is the sit down restaurant which features a western-inspired cuisine presented with heavy Hello Kitty branding.
