What up, Internet!
Everyone is playing Overwatch except for me and I want to cry.
Not really but, you know, it looks amazing and I really want to play it.
Part of the reason it’s so darn appealing to me, is that it looks like it plays exactly like TF2!
If you’ve ever met me, you’d know that I looooove TF2 (Team Fortress 2).
Since the release of Overwatch, my social media has been an ocean of cosplay WIP’s from the game. I am not complaining because they all look incredible.
Speaking of cosplay, Supanova Sydney is fast approaching! Of course, two weeks out from a major convention, I am yet to really get a start on my cosplays. Standard.
What am I cosplaying, I hear you ask? (Not really, no one talks to me except the voices in my head) Well, it’s someone that most people have heard of and would most likely recognize in its original form…
I give you BUTTERCUP from the all time favourite Powerpuff girls with a twist…
Yep. That’s a punk version of Buttercup. There is a group picture but it’s a little bit too rude for this blog. If you’d like to see the full version, check out the artist SourAcid on DeviantArt here.
I’ve got my wig and just received my shorts from eBay which is a start but I still have a very long way to go with this. I’ll be using some weathering techniques to make it look nice and grungy. I’ll also be doing some sweet body paint tattoos, which may prove to be difficult. Here’s hoping it all turns out in time…two weeks from now.
Aaaaaand for my next trick I will borrow another cosplay from a lovely friend! Since, I’ll be attending Haven Expo shortly after Nova, I haven’t had much time to put together a second cosplay for day two. A friend of mine, RadClawedRaid is letting me borrow her Yang cosplay for the day!
The only thing that I’ll need to build are Yang’s sweet gauntlets. Those things are like shotguns! If you haven’t watched RWBY, do yourself a favour and go check it out!
I’ll be using foam, worbla and a bunch of other bits and bobs for the gauntlets. Having them be light weight and comfortable will be crucial because those bad boys will be on my wrists all day.
Here’s a link to the tutorial that I’ll be basing my props on.
So that’s me for the moment. You’ll hear more from me within the week, when the panic sets in and I frantically try to finish all the parts of my cosplays in time for the con!
Supanova is on the 17th, 18th and 19th of June. If you’re a geek, you should come along and see what it’s all about. It’s more than just cosplay and Star Trek! There are artists from all over there drawing in artist alley, there are games to play (including tabletop and card games), people to meet and so much more.
Come along and say hi! It’s fun, I promise.
See you all there soon !
