SMAP's long-running variety show "SMAP x SMAP" will end sometime this year.

Following news of SMAP's disbandment, there was some questions raised as to what will happen to the group's long-running variety show "SMAP x SMAP". Given that the group are disbanding, the prevailing assumption is that the show will also end, and unfortunately for fans, that assumption has been confirmed today.

According to reports, Fuji TV have announced that "SMAP x SMAP" will end at some point this year, though no exact date was given. Fuji TV have stated that it will continue to produce the show until the end, and that it hopes fans and viewers will continue to support it.

"SMAP x SMAP" first premiered on April 15, 1996, and while it'll be sad to see the show end after 20 years, we thank SMAP for all the laughs and entertainment over the last two decades!
